51% Of New Billionaires Are Women

In the new Forbes list of World Billionaires, women are among the fastest growing population. They make up 51% of all new Billionaires on the list.

In 2001, Oprah became the first black woman to make it on the list. After having the #1 talk show for 16 straight years, so expanded with Oxygen Media LLC.

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, was once a single mother on welfare. She let her stories of boy wizard Harry Potter turn her fortunes around.

Meg Whitman made her billions by being the president and chief of what was first known as the largest online garage sale, but now has grown into a place to shop for deals… eBay.

Yang Huiyan is the world’s youngest female billionaire at age 29. She is the main shareholder in Country Garden Holdings of Guangzhou. She graduated from Ohio State.

Christy Walton is the only female in the top 10 billionaire list. Abigail Johnson, is the President of Fidelity Investments. She has a MBA from Harvard and is married with two kids. She comes in at #69 on the list.

In 2006 Gina Rinehart became Australia’s first female billionaire and is #100 on the list at $9B.

Shari Arison, is the richest woman in Israel because of Carnival Cruises and Bank Hapoalim.

Let’s not forget about Jacqueline Mars. At age 71, the Mars family is still bring in the money even during a recession with candy bars, M&Ms and pet food (Pedigree). With a worth of $10 billion, she has owned the company since her dad died in ’99.

A few notables are Ivanka Trump & Amanda Hearst who are two billionaire heiress.
